January Facility Visit

An explanation given in the Library (January 17)

 Four visitors including curators from the Nagoya City Museum
 On January 17, the visitors came to the Institute in order to view conservation efforts and research on materials related to textiles. They toured the Library of the Department of Research Programming, the Audio-Visual Documentation Section of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the chemical laboratory of the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques, and the Japan Center for International Cooperation in Conservation. The staff members in charge of each facility explained the work they do.


December Facility Visit

Giving an explanation in the restoration studio (December 6)

 Five students of the Kanazawa College of Art, majoring in Japanese-style painting (and others)
 They came to view the site of conservation and restoration of cultural properties on December 6. They toured the Japan Center for International Cooperation in Conservation and the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques on the fourth floor, the restoration studio of the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques on the third floor, and the Library of the Department of Research Programming on the second floor. Those in charge of each facility provided explanations and answered questions.


November Facility Visit

Briefing (November 29th)

 Six students of Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts majoring in Art Studies of Arts and Crafts Faculty (and others)
 On November 29th, they visited us as part of external study. After Deputy of Director General Nakano explained the outline, they toured the restoration studio of the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques on the third floor, the Library of the Department of Research Programming on the second floor, and the X-ray Room of the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques on the basement floor. Those in charge of each facility provided explanations and answered questions.


October Facility Visit

Explanation in front of exhibited panels (October 28)

 30 participants (and others) of a repair engineer training session of cultural properties (art craftworks) hosted by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. They visited the Institute on October 28th as part of the training session in the title. They toured the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques on the third floor, panel exhibition on the first floor, and the Audio-Visual Documentation Section of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the basement. Those in charge of each facility provided explanations and answered questions.


September Facility Visit (1)

Explanation at Audio-Visual Documentation Section (September 6)

 Nine people from Odakyu Engineering and others
 They visited us on September 6 to look around the facilities for cultural properties. They toured the chemical laboratory and restoration studio of the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques on the fourth and third floor, and the Audio-Visual Documentation Section of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage on the basement floor. Those in charge of each facility provided explanations and answered questions.


September Facility Visit (2)

Explanation at Japan Center for International Cooperation in Conservation (September 17)

 Five students from Taito City’s Okachimachitaito Junior High School
 They visited us on September 17 as part of learning by workplace visit. They toured the Japan Center for International Cooperation in Conservation on the fourth floor, the Library of the Department of Research Programming on the second floor, and the Audio-Visual Documentation Section of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage on the basement floor. Those in charge of each facility provided explanations and answered questions.


August Facility Visit

Explanation on work content (August 5)

 15 internal committee members of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Legislative Assembly and others
 They visited the Institute on August 5 to learn the techniques of cultural and artistic development in Japan. After they paid a courtesy call to Mr. Kamei, the Director General of our Institute, Mr. Miyata, the Director of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage, provided explanations on the work contents of the Department and answered their questions.

Giving an explanation in the Audio-Visual Documentation Section (July 21)

 36 new staff members of National Institutes for Cultural Heritage:
 As part of the training sessions for new staff of National Institutes for Cultural Heritage, 17 members visited the National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, Tokyo on July 21 and 19 members visited on July 22. They toured the chemical laboratory of the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques on the fourth floor, the Library of the Department of Research Programming on the second floor, the X-ray Room of the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques, and the Audio-Visual Documentation Section of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage on the basement floor. Those in charge of each facility provided explanations and answered questions.


July Facility Visit (2)

Giving an explanation in the Library (July 26)

 Ten undergraduate students of Bunka Women’s University, Major in Costume and Fashion History of Program in Fashion Culture and others:
 The students visited the Institute on July 26 to learn about the current status of scientific research on art objects and such like. They toured the chemical laboratory of the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques and the Japan Center for International Cooperation in Conservation on the fourth floor, the Library of the Department of Research Programming on the second floor, and the Audio-Visual Documentation Section of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage on the basement floor. Those in charge of each facility provided explanations and answered questions.


April Facility Visit

 The Education Superintendent of the Shanghai Academy of Governance and six persons:
 On April 22, they visited the National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, Tokyo to inspect the advanced facilities for protecting national heritage in Japan. They toured the Audio-Visual Documentation Section of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage on the basement floor, the Restoration Studio of the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques on the third floor, the chemical laboratory of the Center for Conservation Science and Restoration Techniques and the Japan Center for International Cooperation in Conservation on the fourth floor. Those in charge of each facility provided explanations and answered questions.
