Study Tour Group of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University visited the Institute

Presentations by Hong Kong Polytechnic SPEED

On June 2, students majoring in Building Engineering and Management (BEM) at the School of Professional Education and Executive Development of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU SPEED) visited our institute as part of a study tour. Following their previous visit in 2024, we held a joint session to introduce and discuss the latest activities and initiatives of both institutions.

For the presentations from the Centre, we introduce an overview of its organisation and activities, as well as a presentation on recent initiatives involving practical training and the digital documentation of archaeological sites and artifacts in Bahrain and other countries in the Middle East. We also introduced the Japan Consortium for International Cooperation in Cultural Heritage (JCIC-Heritage), for which our institute serves as the secretariat under the auspices of the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and outlined its mission and recent activities. From the PolyU SPEED side, two case studies on the renovation and revitalisation of historic buildings, in which students had been actively involved, were presented. In addition, the latest research developments in Building Information Modeling (BIM) that is increasingly being implemented in the construction industry were shared.

While time constraints may sometimes limit the depth of mutual understanding, exchanges of this kind provide unexpected insights and fresh perspectives. The Centre will continue to embrace such opportunities for dialogue and collaboration, promoting mutual learning and expanding networks within the international community.
