The international situation around heritage conservation is constantly changing. In particular, there are many cases in which World Heritage sites are requested to take new approaches, such as heritage impact assessments, and those concerned are always challenging. In addition, there have been various developments in Japan's heritage conservation system in recent years, and it is essential to learn about trends in other countries in order to explore the future of the system.

For this reason, we, the International Information Section of the Center, collect and analyze information on international trends in heritage conservation systems and policies, and international cooperation and disseminates it to the public. In addition, the Center conducts a variety of activities to strengthen cooperation among research institutions, promote joint research and the exchange of information among researchers, and realize ongoing international cooperation.

We attend various international conferences and symposiums, including the World Heritage Committee, to gather information on heritage conservation. The information and knowledge get through these activities are disseminated to local governments and other parties involved in heritage conservation at various opportunities, including the World Heritage Research Council meetings.

In addition, over the years, we have continuously collected and analyzed laws and regulations related to the protection of cultural heritage in various countries and translated them into Japanese. We have translated relevant laws and regulations from more than 20 countries so far.
