The Center continuously collects and translates foreign laws and regulations related to heritage conservation into Japanese. This work supports the review and improvement of our own heritage conservation system and contributes to the implementation of international cooperation in the field.
In our translation efforts, we prioritize clarity and the avoidance of misunderstandings that could negatively impact heritage conservation, particularly the risk of confusion with similar domestic laws or regulations. At the same time, we ensure the use of appropriate legal terminology by involving subject matter experts.
While translations are ideally made directly from the original language, we may use official versions in English, French, or other international languages provided by international organizations or national authorities when qualified translators for the original language are not available.
