Visit from the Heritage Commission of Saudi Arabia

On September 3, five representatives from the Heritage Commission of Saudi Arabia visited our institute as part of a business mission. Their visit to Japan aimed to study organizational frameworks and necessary analytical equipment in preparation for establishing a new archaeological research institute currently being planned in their country. In line with this purpose, we provided an overview of the roles and analytical equipment from each department and center, along with a general introduction by our Director-General. The Center also arranged a demonstration of the latest equipment, in collaboration with Artec 3D Japan and Nikon, who support our efforts in 3D digital documentation.

Although the visit was brief, we believe it provided a valuable opportunity to deepen their interest in our overall mission and international cooperation efforts. Following their time at our institute, they visited the Tokyo National Museum, and plan to visit the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties (NABUNKEN), and the University Museum, the University of Tokyo (UMUT). We hope that such person-to-person exchanges will help broaden networks and further advance international collaboration in the field of heritage conservation.
