Use of Images

Application Process:

1. Check if TOBUNKEN has the desired image(s) using TOBUNKEN Research Collection.
2. Confirm the owner of the image subject(s) and, if other than TOBUNKEN, obtain the permission from the owner(s) and submit a copy of their permission. Please note that we cannot process the permission request without the owner’s permission.
3. Submit an application for secondary use to the Department of Research Support and Promotion of TOBUNKEN with:
   • Application form
     Word

     PDF
   • A copy of the owner’s permission document (when applicable)
   • Reference material for us to identify the target photograph(s) and/or image(s) such as photocopies of pictures
   • Copy of permission for secondary use by the joint-study body (when the target image(s) were taken in joint-studies)
4. TOBUNKEN will issue the permission for secondary use and an invoice after two weeks. Send the amount invoiced to the specified bank account by the due date.
5. Once TOBUNKEN has confirmed payment, the image(s) for use will be created.
6. Make sure to appropriately manage the given image(s) and working data including the image(s) and erase them once completed. When you receive the data via a physical medium, please return it to us once completed at your own cost.
7. TOBUNKEN requests donation of two copies of the final product.

• The fee will depend on the purpose of the secondary use. Fee for secondary use will be charged per image/usage in principle. The fee is subject to the size of image data.
• Please submit an application for reprint or rerun including reuse of the same image(s) for the same purpose.

2. TOBUNKEN issues the permission for secondary use and an invoice after two weeks. Send the invoiced amount to the given bank account by the due date.
3. Download the image(s) via URL that TOBUNKEN will send. Please note that the data will be available only during a specified period of time.
4. TOBUNKEN requests donation of two copies of the final product.

• TOBUNKEN will charge JPY 3,000 per photo/use.
• The charge may be waived when the use is for education/research.
• Please make an application for each usage even when using the same photo.
