Reinforcement of Roof Structures(slides 63-64) This is a case of a traditional wood framestructure of which different parts of the building werereinforced separately to support local loads.Reinforcement of Masonry Walls(slides 65-69) Lastly, I would like to introduce a case toexplain how the problem was challenged for raising thequality of the walls of a masonry structure to improvedurability. The numerous void spaces in stone masonrywere injected for reinforcement by improving the wall’smechanical behavior and performance. Also, by connectingthe two layers together horizontally, the mechanicalresponse could be dramatically improved. This is atraditional method, but have not been widely used.
