概要

「煉瓦造建造物の保存と修復」英語版

from three different eras can be seen: the original building(wall at the far end), reinforcement from the 14th century(middle wall), and additional reinforcement from the 17thcentury (front wall). It has been reinforced repeatedly, butby methods that were not safe. Then, the recent earthquakeoccurred.A typical method of reinforcement from the past isreplacement of wood building members with reinforcedconcrete. During an earthquake, the reinforced concreteelements persisted resulting in greater damage.(slide 4) Damage due to lack of maintenance was alsofrequently observed. The roof and floor structures had agedover the years and when the chimney fell, it resulted indestruction of the entire building.(slide 5) In this photo as well, the architect had replacedwood members with reinforced concrete causing greatdamage.Prof. Eng.
