OverviewIn conventional restoration, repairing or replacement ofdeteriorated material was generally seen. It is notable thatin this restoration, the deteriorated appearance over timewas historically valued and the original masonry techniqueswere preserved.However, in order to stabilize the structure, large-scalewall reinforcement was undertaken, including installation ofa reinforced concrete wall inside the chimney and insertionof numerous stainless steel pinning. Also, because measuresagainst salt damage were not introduced, there still is ahigh possibility of the structure eventually becoming lost tobrick powdering and thus, further studies for water sealingprotection are necessary.
