We used techniques which were developed by the industry in restoration,because we think conservation and repair are such a large problems here. Let us say that it is “repair”and not “restoration” regarding how these concrete structures are treated. The root of the problemis nearly the same as with iron and steel, which is rust resulting from water infiltration. When theupper layer of concrete cracks, water will enter, and then rust will appear on the steel reinforcement.There are not so many proven repair techniques other than those already used in the industry.Because most properties are large in scale, we do not try to use other methods. They might be moresophisticated and more sensible, but will require much more time and much more money. So untilnow, we have continued to rely on these established industrial techniques.
