This glossary includes 77 important terms for the nomination of the World Heritage and the report of the state of conservation. This glossary shows the English terms, their translations in Japanese and their definitions.   Survey Report on the Selected Conservation Techniques 1 —traditional Japanese steel, Wakou

This is a survey report on the production of Tamahagane (Tatara smelting). Tatara smelting is an ancient technique to produce iron and steel. It uses a clay furnace, iron sand as a raw material, and charcoal as a fuel to produce highly purified steel called Tamahagane. Tamahagane is indispensable for making Japanese swords. Preliminary Report on the Safeguarding of the Bamiyan Site 2013: 11th Mission

The English edition of preliminary report of the 11th mission of the project of safeguarding of Bamiyan in 2013 (Japanese edition was published in 2015). Evaluation of previously conserved mural paintings, data collection of environmental measurements, and preservation assessment of archaeological sites are described. Conservation and Research of Cultural Heritage in the Chuy Valley, the Kyrgyz Republic. Ak-Beshim and Ken Bulun Sites;2011–2014 seasons

A report on the researches at the Ak-Beshim and Ken Bulun sites in the Kyrgyz Republic during 2011–2014, as parts of the International Cooperation in Cultural Heritage initiative. This presents the structures, artifacts, animal and plant remains, and the results of radiocarbon dating revealed during excavations at Ak-Beshim, along with the results of the surface survey at Ken Bulun. A report of a symposium of the same name held at the Institute on January 24, 2016. It includes verbatim records of 4 keynote lectures and discussants’ comments during a panel discussion on future ways of international cooperation in the protection and rehabilitation of cultural heritage in countries under and after conflict. The Conservation of Fragments of the Wall Paintings of the Hulbuk Site

The final report of the conservation project of fragments of mural paintings in the 10–11th centuries AD from the Hulbuk site. The projects were conducted at the Tajikistan National Museum of Antiquities from 2008 to 2014. A series of the results including investigations, conservation interventions, and exhibition in the museum of the mural paintings whose dimensions are 1 × 2m are described. Networking Core Centers for International Cooperation in Conservation of Cultural Heritage Project in Myanmar

This report presents the results achieved in the Networking Core Centers for InternationalCooperation in Conservation of Cultural Heritage Project in Myanmar that the NationalResearch Institute for Cultural Properties, Tokyo was commissioned by the Agency for Cultural Affairs to implement over the three-year period from 2013 to 2015. The report was compiled jointly by the National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, Tokyo (focusing on the building construction, arts and handicrafts aspects of the project) and the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties (focusing on the archeological aspects); the report presents an overview of the project, and outlines the results achieved.
