Survey and dissemination of international information related to the protection of cultural heritage

Collecting and analyzing information about trends in systems and policies related to the protection of cultural heritage on the international scene are essential in considering the future of Japan’s own system for the protection of cultural properties as well as in the actual implementation of international cooperation within the field of cultural heritage.

The Center collects the information related to cultural heritage worldwide, especially from the region where international cooperation is needed, and surveys the policies to protect cultural heritage in foreign countries. In addition, by collecting information through major international meetings held by UNESCO and other organizations, such as the World Heritage Committee, the Center conducts survey and research on current problems concerning the protection of cultural heritage.
