Workshops on Conservation of Japanese Textile 2018

  Tokyo National Research Institute for Cultural Properties (TNRICP) is pleased to announce two workshops on conservation and restoration of Japanese textile held in Taipei, Taiwan in August 2018. The workshops are free of charge, and will be conducted in Japanese with English translation at Research Centre for Conservation of Cultural Relics, National Taiwan Normal University.

5. Contents

Basic Workshop (8th – 10th August 2018)
“Cultural Properties of Textile in Japan”

  The aim of this three-day workshop is to introduce Japanese textiles through lectures, demonstrations, and practical workshops conducted by Japanese specialists. The workshop will introduce materials and techniques of Japanese textile, and so on.

Advanced Workshop (13th – 17th August 2018)
“Conservation of Japanese Textile"

  This five-day workshop is designed for conservators, restorers and curators who already have an advanced knowledge of conservation and restoration of textile. The workshop will focus on condition assessment, and conservation and restoration techniques of Japanese textiles through practical work, demonstrations and lectures conducted by Japanese specialists.
  The application requirement is the participation in the Basic Workshop in 2017 or 2018 (it is possible to apply for both the Basic Workshop and the Advanced Workshop at once).

    Please Note 

    * Travel and accommodation are the participant’s responsibility.
    * TNRICP does not have any grants. Participants have to seek funding for themselves.
    * Participants must prepare all official documents required to enter and stay in Taiwan such as visa by themselves.
    * Certificate(s) will not be issued in the case of delayed arrival at and early leaving from the workshop(s).
