| Dr. CHIHARA Daigoro (1916-1997) was an architect and also one of the Japanese specialists who was concerning about international cooperative activity for protection of cultural property from the early stage. He worked for the restoration of Borobudur, Indonesia as a special member of UNESCO project. He loved Borobudur and made effort to protect the site for a long time even after the mission.
His children donated the library to the Institute in May 2002, and our Center has been managing the library. The library includes a wide valiety of books, magazines and photos, etc. Especially personal communications, draft restoration plans and drawings about Borobudur Restoration project, we believe that they will be very useful for the development of study on the project. We have been classifying the items and making database of the library. Regarding the books and magazines, we published the list of the library in March 2003, 2004 and 2005 (in Japanese, with English abstract).
