NotesFollowing the international symposium entitled "Conservation of Industrial Collections" heldin November 1998, the Modern Cultural Heritage Section of the Center for ConservationScience at the Tokyo National Research Institute for Cultural Properties has continued toconduct research and study on industrial objects such as aircraft, vessels, railway vehicles andlarge-scale structures.In 2014, we held a study meeting on the conservation and restoration of western paper.Prior to this meeting, we went on study tour of the National Diet Library, the NationalArchives of Japan, Preservation Technologies Japan co., Ltd., and Archival Conservation andEnclosures Co., Ltd. in Tokyo,We would like to express our gratitude to all who had cooperated with us not only in ourresearch but also in our preliminary investigations, to those who had attended our meeting,and to all who have been supporting us in various ways.In this publication, technical terms and names are consistent in each chapter.
