Restoration of Western PaperConducted in Foreign CountriesAs part of this research, current states ofconservation and restoration conducted inboth the Mexican and Canadian nationalarchives have been investigated. The resultsare as follows:3-1. The National Archives of MexicoThe National Archives of Mexico (ArchivoGeneral de la Nacion) in Mexico Cityare housed in a converted building, whichused to be a prison. The facilities are basedon the structure of the former prisonbuildings, and therefore former cell-blocksare connected to each other with a circularcentral area currently used as conservationfacilities (Photos 3 and 4). The corridorsbetween cells were covered at the time ofrenovation, and desks for staff membershave been installed.
