’07 International Cooperation in the Field of Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage
The Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage is making positive efforts toward international cooperation in investigation and research of intangible cultural heritage with several institutions, especially in the Asian countries, in accordance with the globally increasing momentum of recent years in this field.
The Department also cooperates actively with international activities on safeguarding intangible cultural heritage conducted by the Asia/Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU). The Department sent a lecturer to the “Training Course for Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage” which it held jointly with ACCU.
|Researchers from the Institute visited the Mongolian University of Arts and Culture and considered teaching of traditional performing arts. There was a performance of folk music ensemble by college teachers and dances by students.
|Two researchers of the Department were invited to the “International Seminar for Traditional and Ritual Theatre” held in Tehran, Iran, and gave lectures on classic performing arts and folk performing arts of Japan.
|Study Group on Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in Asia
A meeting of the study group dealing with safeguarding intangible cultural heritage in Asia was held on 12th ? 13th March, 2008. Two guests, from China and Vietnam, gave introductions to efforts for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage in each country. Researchers of the Department also introduced similar efforts by Japan and the Institute.
